The BEST Banana Bread Recipe EVER.. Swirled with Nutella!

Hey everyone! Welcome to my Carla in the Kitchen Blog! Today is all about banana bread. One of my favourites! I have tried countless amounts of yummy banana bread recipes as my husband is literally obsessed with bananas! He’ll eat it any way possible; on toast, in a shake, with ice cream, yogurt… Anything! When it comes to banana bread he is defiantly my number one taste tester (which he does with a smile on his face). The last couple of recipes that I have tried where very good, however, I wanted them to be more moist, soft and to have MORE Banana (husbands request). I took bits and pieces of my favourite recipes that I have tried along the way to come up with what I call the BEST Banana Bread Recipe Ever! Its very moist, soft and of course, I have added EXTRA banana to the mix! It is a super easy recipe which I am sure you will all love. I added Nutella, which you can opt out of or of course you can add other mix ins like LOTUS or Dulce De Leche. By the way, definitely make this recipe before you have guests over because trust me… your house is going to smell amazing! You’ll need: 1/2 cup butter 1 cup white sugar 2 eggs, beaten 6 ripe bananas, mushed 1 1/2 cup plus 3 tbsp cake flour (or 1 1/2 cup flour) 1 tsp baking soda 1/2 tsp salt 1/2 tsp vanilla 1/2 cup nutella 1/2 cup chocolate chips Cream together butter and sugar. Add eggs and crushed bananas. Combine well. Sift together flour,...

Easy No-Bake LOTUS BISCOFF Cheesecake Recipe

Hey everyone! Its Carla from CarlasCakes and welcome to my Carla in the Kitchen Blog! Lotus Biscoff.. what a wonderful thing. Not only is this amazing addictive cookie butter the most delicious spread on the planet (yes…. it might even be better than Nutella!), but it can be used and eaten in so many different ways. I usually just go for the spoonful technique. This consists of digging out the LARGEST spoonful possible, and just licking it straight from the source. Sometimes however, it’s nice to mix our beloved lotus, with other yummy ingredients to create (dare I say it) heaven on earth. So lets get right to it. This super easy cookie butter cheesecake recipe took less than 10 minutes to make. It was so fast, and it does not require many ingredients. If you’re like me, you will love the sound of that! I like simple recipes but with delicious results. For this Lotus recipe, you will need Lotus Biscoff Cookies, Lotus Biscoff Spread, Butter, Cream Cheese, and Cool Whip! (I’ll add the detail ingredients at the bottom). You will also need 6 glass cups, a piping bag, and a stand or handheld mixer.  1. Crush your Lotus Cookies and add your melted butter. Mix it up with a spoon to create the crumb crust and add that to the bottom of your 6 glass cups, to create the crust. 2. In your stand mixer or handheld mixer add cream cheese and Lotus Biscoff Spread. Mix for 3 minutes on high speed (You want these two ingredients to become well incorporated and have a pale fluffy colour). 3. Add your Cool Whip and fold it into...

Valentines Cake Pops Recipe

I thought I HATED cake pops. I made them for a baby shower a few years ago and they were a pain in the butt cheeks with all that freezing and refreezing, dipping, twirling, decorating, and oh that texture!! Ewww!! It was soggy, grainy, and tasted like someone had chewed it up already.  My hubby sat quietly, ate the whole thing and calmly said “you don’t have to make these again please”  LOL I seriously did not see what all the cake pop hype was about, but I kept getting requests to “PLEASE DO A CAKE POP TUTORIAL!”.  I can’t let my babies (you) down so I got back in the kitchen to figure these things out. Something had to give! I discovered that I LOVED cake pops.  Here’s what I learned: Go EASY On The Frosting: What a lot of folks failed to mention in the cake pop tutorials that I was following was to ONLY ADD A LITTLE BIT OF FROSTING. That is super important!!  Most cakes are already moist. Too much frosting and it’s ruined in my opinion, not unless you add more cake. Use Your Hands To Mix:It really helps to mix it up with your hands so that you can get the feel of it. When I used a spoon to mix it up, it looked as if I wasn’t putting in enough frosting but it  turned out that it was way too much when I went to make a ball. The cake should still be a bit crumbly even when the frosting is mixed in. Mini Ice Cream Scoop Works Great: Use an ice...
