Hey, its Carla Bruno from CarlasCakes and welcome back to my Carla in the Kitchen Blog! Today I want to share with you my top secret chocolate chip cookie recipe!
This is the recipe that I have been doing for years! Its soft and chewy on the inside with a delicious crunchy bite on the outside.
The secret to making my cookies soft an chewy is the kind of sugar I use, and how I warm my butter.
Instead of using all white sugar, I am using an equal amount of white sugar and brown sugar. Brown sugar is they key ingredient to making your cookies chewy!
When I warm my butter in the microwave, I am careful not to melt it. I bring my butter so a soft consistency so its easy to mix with my sugars.
Melting my butter will make my cookie runny in the oven and they will come out thin, flat and crunchy. By keeping my butter soft, I will get a soft and fluffy cookie.
1 cup butter, softened
1 cup white sugar
1 cup packed brown sugar
2 teaspoons vanilla extract
3 cups all-purpose flour
1 teaspoon baking soda
2 teaspoons hot water
1/2 teaspoon salt
2 cups semisweet chocolate chips
1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
2. Cream together the butter, white sugar, and brown sugar until smooth. Beat in the eggs one at a time, then stir in the vanilla. Dissolve baking soda in hot water. Add to batter along with salt. Stir in flour, and chocolate chips. Drop by large spoonfuls onto ungreased pans.
3. Bake for about 10 minutes in the preheated oven, or until edges are nicely browned.
4. Pour Nutella, Caramel, Cookie Butter, or Peanut butter over your soft and warm chopped up cookies (optional).
You can add other ingredients to this mix. A delicious combo is 1 1/2 cup white chocolate chips with 1/2 cup fresh raspberries. Or 1 cup chopped pistachio with 1 cup chopped dried cranberries.
